Mt. Herman Exceptional Student Center burst into color, culture, and celebration as it hosted its annual Multicultural Day, led by the J1 teachers under the TPG Cultural Exchange Program.

The program began with a warm welcome from Principal Moses Williams, who proudly shared his multicultural heritage—his father being Jamaican and his mother African American.

One of the event’s highlights was a fashion runway showcasing attire from various countries. Staff walked the stage representing the cultural beauty of Africa, Jamaica, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Canada. The audience cheered each representative, celebrating the diversity that makes Mt. Herman truly exceptional.

The event shifted to live cultural performances. Filipino teachers performed traditional dances like Singkil and Tinikling, showcasing the elegance and coordination of Filipino folk arts. In a lively moment, staff members, including Principal Williams joined in a spirited performance of “Boots on the Ground,” setting the stage for joy and unity.

Bringing the Carribean energy to the floor, Ms. Gisellene Graham led an interactive Jamaican dance session that had the audience clapping and dancing along with enthusiasm.

With colorful balloons, waving flags, and golden props lighting up the stage, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and unity. Teachers, paraprofessionals, students, and guests were all smiles as they experienced traditions and performances from around the globe.

The event concluded with a closing message from Ms. Imani Brown, the new Program Manager of the TPG Cultural Exchange Program, who commended the teachers for sharing their heritage and thanked the school community for its support and inclusivity.
