Quarter 1 ends this Friday, October 9th. As we approach the end of the grading period, students should review their grades and make sure all assignments and other course requirements are complete. Scholarship warnings were provided to students on Tuesday, September 29th, so they are aware of any concerns that may affect their scholarship eligibility. Families are encouraged to check in with their student and review grades together before the quarter closes.
Senior parents, mark your calendars! Our Fall Senior Parent Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 6:30 PM in the auditorium. We encourage all senior families to attend as we share important information and deadlines for the Class of 2027, including graduation, senior events, Cady senior photos, senior yearbook ads, senior bundles, and more. We will also welcome a special guest speaker to discuss financial aid and provide helpful information for families working on college, career, and other postsecondary plans. Attendance at the meeting will earn your senior one additional graduation ticket! We look forward to seeing our senior families on October 6th and helping everyone prepare for an exciting year ahead.
Wednesday, October 21st, is PSAT Day at Atlantic Coast. All freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will participate in PSAT testing. Sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT/NMSQT, while freshmen will take the PSAT 8/9. For juniors, the PSAT/NMSQT provides an opportunity to qualify for scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. For sophomores and freshmen, these assessments will provide valuable practice and information about college readiness. Also on October 21st, seniors who still need a reading or math test score for graduation will be taking the SAT. Please mark October 21st on your calendar and make every effort to have your student at school and on time. There is no makeup testing available. We'll share additional information as we get closer to PSAT Day.
The Data Triangle School Climate Survey opens on Monday, October 5th, and we want to hear from our families! The survey gives students, staff, families, and community members an opportunity to provide valuable feedback about our school. Your voice matters, and your participation helps us better understand our school community and identify areas for continued growth. Please use the QR code on the attached flyer or visit DCPS Surveys to complete the survey. The survey will remain open through October 23rd.
School counselors are wrapping up senior credit checks this week. Counselors will follow up with any seniors who were absent to ensure they receive their credit check information. Please review the Senior Credit Check document and Senior Survival Guide with your senior to stay informed about graduation requirements and more.
Seniors did you remember to purchase your senior bundle? On Monday, we will reopen the senior bundle to new members for one week only! The bundle will close to member on October 11th, so don’t wait and purchase yours this week! Once you have made your purchase, you must show your receipt to Ms. Solomon during your lunch. You will find her in room 123 (next door to the media center).
