Welcome

To support a safe, orderly, and focused school environment, Westside Middle School requires students to use clear or mesh bookbags while on campus. This expectation is part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, campus security, and efficient daily entry procedures.

Clear or mesh bookbags allow school staff to quickly and respectfully identify items being brought onto campus. This helps reduce delays during morning arrival, supports our safety screening procedures, and allows students to transition to class with fewer interruptions. The goal of this policy is not to inconvenience families, but to strengthen the safety systems that help protect every student, staff member, and visitor in the Raider Nation community.

Students may bring necessary school supplies, personal items, and instructional materials in a clear or mesh bookbag. Families are encouraged to help students keep only the items needed for school each day. Limiting unnecessary items helps reduce clutter, prevents misplaced belongings, and supports a more organized learning environment.

Bookbags that are not clear or mesh may not be permitted for daily student use. Students who bring an unapproved bookbag may be directed to secure the item in accordance with school procedures, and families may be contacted for support. Repeated concerns may result in additional follow-up from the school administration.

Westside Middle School appreciates our families' partnership as we work together to maintain a safe and welcoming campus. Safety is a shared responsibility, and when everyone follows the same expectations, our school day begins with greater consistency, clarity, and care.
