
Dress Code
Matthew Gilbert Middle School adopted the use of embroidered polo shirts four years ago and we will continue the implementation of uniforms for students in the 2024-2025 school year. Uniforms vary by grade level, so please review the flyer below. Please also review the following guidelines regarding pants, shorts, skorts, shirts, and shoes.
PantsWalking Shorts/ Skorts/Skirts
- Solid Khaki or Navy-Blue or Black. 
- No more than one size larger than the waist 
- Worn at the waist. 
- No low-rise, sagging, or ripped pants. 
- NO JEANS, cargo/carpenter pants, leggings, or sweatpants of any kind. 
- Belts must be worn with pants with belt loops. 
- Solid khaki or navy blue uniform pants. 
- No more than one size larger than the waist. 
- Worn at the waist. 
- No shorter than 1” above the knee. 
- No boxers, running shorts, or denim of any kind 
Shirt StylesShoes
- Polo-style solid short or long sleeve shirts in appropriate grade level colors: - Shirts should fit appropriately. 
- No logos, designs, or pictures on shirts unless MWG logo. 
- No bare waists, midriffs, bare backs, and/or low necklines permitted. 
- No jackets or vests are to cover the uniform shirt. 
 
- Athletic shoes, leather shoes, and boots are all acceptable (Closed-in). 
- Shoes with heels are NOT permitted. 
- NO flip flops or sandals of any kind will be permitted. 
- Athletic shoes must be worn for physical education classes.
