The instructors of the Math department bring over 50+ years worth of knowledge and expertise to instill the passion for mathematics in the students of the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The Math faculty includes four school-based Teachers of the Year, and one Duval County Teacher of the Year semi-finalist.
The broad-based curriculum encompasses nearly all the math courses offered by the District at the standard, honors, and Advanced Placement levels. Our teachers utilize a variety of teaching methods and tools, including an emphasis on inquiry learning, problem-solving, and critical thinking. State FSA, PSAT, ACT, and SAT preparation are an integral part of everyday classroom activities.
The department’s curriculum includes: Algebra I, Geometry (Standard and Honors), Algebra II (Standard and Honors), Pre-Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Math for College Readiness, College Algebra, Financial Algebra, AP Statistics, both AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC, and most recently, AP Computer Science Principles.
